We are an Indian ethnic wear design label start-up based in NYC, and are looking for askillful freelance fashion designer to help us build a brand about which we are so passionate.


 Design a commercially viable collection of Indian saris with a contemporary twist that fulfills the founders’ vision, brand strategy and meets the financial plans

 Drive creation process of the collection from concept through fully-rendered product, consistent with brand image and target customers

 Serve as a trusted advisor to the founders and drive the creative process


As the designer, you will be responsible for delivering all aspects of the design process, from start to finish, including concept boarding, sketches, pattern drawings, tech-packs. Additionally, responsibilities include:

 Technical/Pattern making

 Pattern grading with accurate spec sheets

 Creating efficient markers (attention to minimizing waste)

 Managing fit sessions and approval of pre-production samples

 Fabric and trim sourcing

 Overseeing quality standards

 Coordinating the flow of raw materials and finished goods among suppliers and manufacturers

 Managing sample production and overseas manufacturers throughout the production process


 B.S. in Fashion Design and a minimum of 2+ years of experience in the industry, preferably women’s apparel

 Strong technical knowledge of garment construction and fit

 Strong knowledge of the product development process including design, patternmaking, grading, fittings, tech pack creation etc.

 Abreast of the global fashion trends and cultural sensitivities

 Strong knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop Program; NedGraphics is a plus. Basic computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

 Great eye for color and understanding of fabric possibilities and construction

 Excellent hand/digital sketching and illustration ability

 Ability to apply design concepts through lens of the customer and brand. Innovation in the use of color, fabric, and details in design. Ability to incorporate elements of western designs and trends in the ‘eastern’ collection.

 Positive attitude, open mind and fun….Flexible and able to accept changes as we evolve as a brand with positive attitude

 Organized and detailed orientated

 Must be able to multi-task, prioritize work on a continual basis, and work with limited supervision

 Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to build relationships effectively with the cross-functional team
