In celebration of the centuries-long black arts tradition on Myrtle Avenue and its surrounding areas, MARP is seeking visual art that explores the concepts of time, travel, time-travel, and transition.
CALL FOR ARTISTS! Black Artstory Month 2015
The Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership (MARP) is seeking paintings, drawings, photography and works on paper to present in its 3rd Annual Black Artstory Month. Selected works will be featured in businesses on Myrtle Avenue in the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn from February 1-28, 2015.
The title of this year’s Black Artstory Month is “Where I’m From: The Black Artstory of Myrtle and Beyond.”

will launch our system and produce high quality, fashion forward apparel. And the kicker? We’re going to help people. A lot of people. But first, we need help ourselves. From you.
Inspired by the Wolof culture in West Africa, we work with undiscovered artisans around the world to launch trendy gear targeting the millennial demo. In addition to paying artisans fair trade wages, 10% from each sale is deposited into a fund controlled by the artisan and his community.

Job Duties/Responsibilities: We are hosting a competition at major fashion schools around the country, where YOU will have the opportunity to design one product unique to Project Wolof. After sub- mitting your entry, we will host an online vote, so make sure your friends AND family vote.
It’s a chance to design something unique. A chance to help transform a community.
Requirements/Qualifications: 18+ and attending a fashion program
$1,500 and the option to take a trip with the Project Wolof team to Senegal to meet our artisan and launch the line.

How To Apply: – 18 years+
– 1 submission (sketch or photo).
– Required to use leather in design, (our artisan is a 3rd generation leather worker). Handbags, wallets, purses, computer sleeves, messenger bags etc. BE CREATIVE!
